It’s that time of the year to start showing a little skin, but you want your skin to be in optimal shape. One of the best ways is to treat yourself to a spa treatment at home. Start with a nice soak. You can use home made bath salts or some from SheaMoisture — the price is so great for theirs that I see no reason to make them. (But I’m not a DIY girl…)

After a nice soak, you skin will be in perfect condition to exfoliate.  Try a sugar scrub like the recipe here, or again you can try one from a brand we love like Carol’s Daughter Brown Sugar Scrub. After you scrub and rinse, and pat dry, treat your skin to a generous application of Mango Body Butter. And guess what? We have a great DIY recipe of Mango Body Butter for you right here.

Ingredients:

The butters, oils and wax (by weight):

-3 oz shea butter

-2 oz mango butter

-1 oz coconut oil

-3 oz grapeseed oil (or other liquid oil of choice)

-½ oz beeswax

 mango butter oils and butters

The liquids (by volume):

-2 oz distilled water or hydrosol

-2 oz aloe vera gel

Optional:

25-50 drops Mango essential oil (depends on your strength preference)

Equipment:

Double Boiler

Blender or Immersion blender

Spatula

Jars with caps

homemade-body-butter1. Combine all butters, oils and wax in the double boiler and heat until melted, stirring occasionally.

2. When the oils, butters, and wax have melted, pour into your blender or, if using an immersion blender, into the container in which you will be blending everything and allow to come to room temperature.

3. Measure out the distilled water and aloe vera gel (into the same container is fine) and allow to come to room temperature.

4. When the butter/oil/wax mixture has cooled sufficiently (it will become thick and opaque) turn on the blender and very slowly pour in the water/aloe vera gel. The color will lighten significantly and the mixture will be one homogenous consistency. Scrape down the sides and continue blending if necessary to achieve this.

5. When the body butter is fully blended, add essential oils if you wish. You may play with the drops until you achieve the scent you prefer.

6. When the body butter is the consistency you prefer (whipped), pour it into your jars, cap and label. The body butter will firm up as it cools. Keep at room temperature, or refrigerate if you plan on keeping longer than 6 months.

Now if you are a lazy girl like me, you will probably prefer to buy the best body butter out there.  Well, Asili Mango Body Butter is a lovely option.
